Rush Fee

$75.00

If you NEED your gig bag for a tour or have some other critical need, we can cut the wait in half for a $75 fee. We don’t move you all the way to the front, or everyone would do this and there’d be a slew of people waiting indefinitely. So this is the best we can do and still be fair to everyone.

But for $75, we will cut the current wait in half for you — which is always variable depending on staffing, raw materials, weather, vacations, etc. Or, we will put your bag in with others of the same make that were ordered earlier. This helps our efficiency, and you may get yours made very fast indeed, depending on what’s on deck for cutting. This rush is not a guarantee! There are MANY 3rd party suppliers involved, and we can be at their mercy on occasion. We will do our absolute best, expect to succeed here 98% of the time, and if we miss, we will refund this charge.

Here’s a little thing I wrote to communicate why I make these the way Glenn made them, and maybe even a little better. There’s a wait for a reason…several, actually:

Our bags last for several decades — we want you to repeat your investment in our brand not because your bag fell apart, but because you bought a new instrument.

How refreshing is that? If your zipper does konk out after 20 years, we can probably replace it and send it back for another 20 years of daily use — no joke!

HERE is a video explaining very specifically what we do to make every component last 20-30-40 years.

What does this mean? It means that investing a little bit more today — in the only major brand trying NOT to rip you off — will PAY dividends several times over by the time you retire from the music business. That sounds exaggerated and hyperbolic, but it’s true. We do everything possible to make these last a lifetime.

Q: How many competitors’ bags are made to fall apart in 2-3-4 years?

A: Literally ALL of our competitors’ bags are made to fall apart in 2-3-4 years.

That why that plural possessive apostrophe is correct — we have a lot of competitors, and they’re NOT your friend. I don’t care what they tell you at the trade show bar — they’re lying, and they know it. “Lifetime warrantee on everything but the zipper” says one competitor, which is a dishonest way of saying they don’t have a lifetime warrantee. I don’t offer one because it isn’t needed. Scout’s honor.

THEY purposely TRY to rip you off with an evil manufacturing concept known as “Designed Obsolescence.” We don’t do that — we’re old fashioned and believe in The Golden Rule.

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

#10 YKK USA branded RC zippers are no joke. The steel pull is as large as a man’s thumb. RC coils are the most durable coil YKK makes.

.75” or 1” High Density (HD) High Resilience (HR) foam comes from more expensive chemicals. 2.4 pound density foam provides double the impact protection than 1.2# foam of the same thickness, and HR means the foam cells won’t break down over time. Boiled down: You WON’T double ding up your instrument like you will in a competitor’s bag.

Our heavy Tex140 thread is Made in the USA by American and Efird. You know how a chain is only as strong as its weakest link? Same thing here: Bad threads fail. Poorly spun Tex92 or Tex40 threads break and are hard to lock on the backstitch, so seams come undone and cases drop dead along with your axe — straight to the ground. This WON’T happen with our consistently heavy poly thread.

Why polyester thread? Because it’s impervious to both acids and UV light — nylon resists neither. Why do our competitors use nylon thread? Because THEY’RE in the business of ripping you off — we aren’t. We’re in the business of creating great value with lifetime bags.

Top Grain Leather? Beautiful. Classy. Comes with tic bites from the cow who walked across the back 40 to get some water in Wyoming. If you see textured leather on a competitors’ bag — I’m looking at you, you know who — it’s either pig leather or it was chemically or mechanically treated to provide the manufacturer better yield. That means it was soaked in chemicals to soften it up, and then that texture was pressed into the hide using a high pressure roller, or it was sanded smooth, like they do with corrected grain. The textured leathers look cool, like James Dean in Rebel Without A Cause, but it’s junk, like…uhh…junk. Top Grain has marks, but you want ‘em. It’s what makes top grain leather last forever.

Repeat: You want Glenn Cronkhite’s top grain leather, tic bites and all.

You know you do.

Our 1680D 480GSM ballistic nylon won’t wear out, either. Competitors who also claim 1680D aren’t being honest with you. I’ve cut theirs up, and their material reveals pin pricks held up to sunlight, because it’s only 350GSM weight, maybe less, and the urethane coating is probably poorly applied. Once that peels away, your bag is toast. Ours comes from the textile center of the world, Taiwan, truly the best stuff I can find. I don’t shop around to save a buck at your expense.

See that stitch above the rivets? It needs to fail before the rivet carries any weight. So, 15 years from now, the rivet MIGHT have to start pulling some weight. Ever see that stitch above a competitors rivet? Exactly. And you never will. Because how else are THEY going to rip you off TWICE? Meanwhile, on Ethical Street, we’re going to sell you a bag that will last your entire career.

Will you play the same instrument your whole life? Maybe not.

But if you sell it with a Glenn Cronkhite Bag, you’ll sell it for more money and you’ll sell it faster. These things retain value. Competitors’ bags are not even considered during a sale. Theirs are junk. They have no value when you buy them, they have no value when you sell. Go ahead — put your junky bag up for sale on any marketplace for $50. It won’t sell. Put a used Cronkhite Bag up for sale? You can probably get 2/3 of what you paid for it, even after 5-10 years of daily use.

Brass-plated steel hardware is the norm with us. Brass plated steel rivets, too, peened around a steel washer you’ll literally never see. Brass plated steel snaps, too — these are REALLY high quality snaps, friends, made in the USA by FaSnap. Sure enough, they stay snapped.

And the giant steel snaphooks we use on the straps are proven not to break — we’ve been using them on our tuba bags since late 2017, the heaviest instruments we service. They don’t break. They just don’t. They are in use carrying thousands of 30-40 pound tubas on a daily basis all over the world. Ask around. They don’t break. They just don’t.

And guess what? We use the same snap hooks on our tiny piccolo trumpet bags, just to see if anyone pats on us on the back for doing the right thing. You remember The Golden Rule, right?

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

We hope you enjoy your new Glenn Cronkhite Custom Case. Even with a wait, it’s worth it in every way.
